Mountainbrook Wins the South Charlotte Homeowners Against Residential Crime (SCHARC)
We cleared out our vehicles, closed our garage doors, recorded our serial numbers, and last but not least reported any suspicious activity! Each step we took made our neighborhood a harder target against crime. Our community police officers challenged 5 area neighborhoods to see which could be the safest. The contest was geared towards preventing two common crimes in our area: car and house break-ins. The neighborhoods competing included Mountainbrook, Cameron Woods, Olde Providence, Beverly Woods and Beverly Woods East. Accompanying Elizabeth McGregor (Mountainbrooks Safety Chair) are Officers Mike Smith, Officer Beth Jackson, and LT Travis Pardue. This is a major award! So, pat yourselves on the back and shout congrats to your neighbors next time you see them.

Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled, and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, City traffic engineers work directly with other City staff and contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public. Motorists traveling through work zone areas should be alert and extra cautious. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers should double their following distance.
The bottom line is that we cannot exit the subdivision via the Carmel Rd entrance if we live on the Sharonview side of the bridge and vice versa. It will be inconvenient, but necessary to have this problem fixed. Also note that the exact start and stop date might fluctuate a little.
An Investment in Your Community
Mountainbrook is one of the most sought after communities in all of Charlotte. Our Civic Association strives each year through its volunteers to maintain a high level of excellence for residents and visitors. This foundation of this activity are the funds collected each year as membership dues.
Mountainbrook is very unique in that it has a voluntary membership into the Civic Association. Possibly even more unique is that membership dues are only $100 annually. Doing the math makes it seem even more reasonable - ~ $9/month or less than 30 cents per day. The Civic Association has always been very successful in keeping these costs to a minimum. If interested, take a look at the budget posted here on the web site.
These costs look even more reasonable when you consider this as an investment in our community. A large portion of the annual budget goes to maintaining our landscaping and aesthesics of the common areas. These are vital in making a great first impression to visitors and prospective homeowners to Mountainbrook. In addition there are various annual social events that contribute to a sense of community that add to our value, plus a variety of other factors that all keep Mountainbrook high on the list of preferred communities.
Just a few dollars each month makes a nice investment into your community, which of course, invests into our property values.
The Civic Association's goal is 100% participation of all homeowners. We know that with the economy still on the mend, even $100 can be a burden for some. If so, please consider contributing an amount with which you are comfortable. On the flip side, if you are able, please consider contributing more than $100.
